How long will my divorce take?
There is a 60-day waiting period in Arizona. Therefore, you cannot be divorced until at least 61 days after the Petition for Dissolution is officially given to the other spouse, by a process server or acceptance of service. Some divorces can take much longer and the lengths depends on the complexity of your case and whether you and your spouse disagree about important issues. One of our attorneys can advise you regarding the specifics of your case and can give you an estimate of the length of time it may take to get your divorce finalized. However, because your spouse or the other attorney may take positions we cannot predict at the beginning, your divorce could take longer.
Does Karp and Weiss prepare prenuptial and/or post nuptial agreements?
Yes. Prenuptial agreements, also called pre-marital agreements, are entered into prior to marriage. These agreements should be prepared well in advance of the marriage. Each prospective spouse must have his/her own attorney or an opportunity to talk with an attorney. Post-nuptial agreements are entered into after marriage. There are a variety of reasons a couple may want to enter into these agreements. It is important to discuss with the attorney your reasons and goals for entering into such an agreement. This discussion will enable the attorney to assist you in achieving your goals.
